About
SED Optical Eyecare began in 1986, when we had one registered nurse and an ophthalmologist working from a small practice in Paradise Arcade, Boroko. Many people from Port Moresby and the rest of the provinces throughout the country would regularly travel to get their eyes tested by us, as we were the first private nationally owned opticians in the whole country!
After helping many patients, we soon realized that there was a greater need for prescription fitted, affordable and high quality eye wear. In order to deliver this, we bought our first edging machine in 1987 and moved to a much larger residence in the same building.
We also began to notice that many of the provinces outside of Port Moresby badly needed eye care service, so we developed our outreach program. Soon enough, we were providing eye care services to mining companies such as Bougainville, OkTedi, and Misima.
In 1989 we upgraded our practice to a new location in Garden City where we have stayed ever since. Our practice has gone from strength to strength and we now boast four experienced, knowledgeable staff to look after you and cater to your eye care needs.
